The Pass It On Center (POIC) National Assistive Technology Device Reutilization Coordination and Technical Assistance Center
Assist the Pass It On Center to address national issues affecting AT reuse.
Task Force members will assist the Pass It On Center with identifying, defining, and involving stakeholders in finding solutions to issues in AT reuse such as:
a.) responding to liability concerns of AT recyclers b.) examining sanitization policies or standards for AT c.) understanding performance outcomes for AT reuse d.) measuring the value of AT reuse in cost-savings to end users and costs to reuse programs e.) identifying program practices, policies and procedures of specific types of AT Reuse
programs (i.e., Durable Medical Equipment recyclers, computer and AT recyclers, AT Equipment Exchanges, profit vs. non-profit, etc.) to understand “successful practices” f.) developing quality indicators for reuse programs g.) identifying and addressing vendor/manufacturer issues, such as, useful life, end-of-life, notification requirements to vendors/manufacturers regarding reused equipment failures, etc. h.) developing guidelines or a plan(s) to address needs for reused AT in response to natural disasters. i.) identifying and understanding state and national policies and how these policies affect AT recyclers and develop appropriate action plans in response to policies j.) creating a national classification and interactive database system for AT reuse programs k.) other issues identified by the field or the task force
To provide this assistance: the PIOC will ask National Task Force members to participate in PIOC meetings and on one or more study groups that may do work on an ongoing basis.
The Pass It on Center will pay for lodging and meals at NTF meetings and respectfully requests that members cover their travel and ground transportation expenses. Every consideration will be given to coordinating NTF meetings with other major meeting events.
In addition, high priority study group topics as defined by RSA and AT Reuse grantees will require extensive, time-sensitive work accomplished through specific contractual agreements.
