Web Ops - Disclaimers

USER SERVICES Web Operations - Disclaimers AT web sites should have a carefully worded user agreement that specifies the terms and conditions for use of the site. This agreement should be based on policies and should be reviewed by an attorney before posting. In addition to the user agreement, the site should include 'buyer beware"d warranty language that the user is required to acknowledge in some way that can be captured (even if only a check box) before each transaction is completed. This language should state clearly that no warranty is implied for the equipment acquired through the web site (if it is a used equipment exchange in which the organization does not take possession of the device at any point.) If the site distributes equipment that has been refurbished and some form of limited warranty is offered, the terms of that warranty should be very specific and a time frame stated. Examples are attached from several AT organizations. NOTE: User agreements and disclaimers are often combined into a single document.
