FEMA Region IV Summit on AT Reuse & Emergency Mgt

Summit on AT Reuse and Emergency Management for FEMA Region IV April 27 and 28, 2011 Atlanta, Georgia The first regional Summit on AT Reuse and Emergency Management was held for FEMA Region IV (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee). Key presentations are attached, including: Summit Master with AT Reuse Overviews by Joy Kniskern, Carolyn Phillips and Amy Goldman Planning for the Whole Community by Marcie Roth, Director of the Office of Disability Integration and Coordination, Federal Emergency Management Agency Breaking the Access Barriers to Assist Disaster Affected Clients by Marilyn Self, American Red Cross, Atlanta Preparing for AT Needs in Advance of a Disaster by Julie Karam, Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network  The attached documents include the agenda, participant list, presentations and the final report from the Summit. Several key resources were contributed by speakers and participating states. These documents may be useful as a starting point for creating comparable tools for each state. The objective is to have each state develop a plan for AT and AT reuse in emergencies. An outline of key points for consideration is included in the attachments. A number of other emergency management resources can be found in the Emergency Management module of this Knowledge Base.
